Cough medicine for kids. It is a clear, red liquid in cherry flavor.
Formulation
Each 5mL (1teaspoonful) syrup contains: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, USP 10mg
Guaifenesin 50mg
Indications
For the relief of coughs associated with common colds, influenza, allergy and other respiratory infections, particularly useful in dry unproductive and paroxysmal cough.
Dosage and Mode/ Route of Administration
Adult: 15mL (1 Tablespoon)
7-12 years: 10mL (2 teaspoonful)
1-6 years: 5mL (1 teaspoonful)
Infant: 2.5mL (½ teaspoonful)
To be taken orally, 3- 4 times a day or as prescribed by the physician.
Contraindications
Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide should be administered with caution to patients with liver disease. It is contraindicated in asthmatic patients as it causes release of histamines.
Warning
Mucotuss should not be used within 14 days of using an MAO inhibitor.
Adverse Drug Reactions
Rash, itching/ swelling (especially of the face/ tongue/ throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. Seek immediate medical attention it occurs.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
